    Penn Charter Summer Camps will be in-person this summer with many of your favorite camps as well as some new ones, all of which will follow CDC guidelines for a safe, fun-filled summer experience. The fundamental purpose of Day Camp, ages 3-14, is to provide a happy, productive summer for children. The companionship of peers and the leadership of trained counselors attuned to the physical, social and emotional needs of children enrich the experience. Activities include: instructional swim, free swim, tennis, art, archery, music, dance, drama, sports and games, electives and a summer theme. Sports Camp, ages 6-14, is designed for the athlete who truly loves sports. Open to the beginner, intermediate and advanced athlete, the camp offers instruction, competition, coaching, games and fun in eight sports a week. Performing Arts Camp, ages 6-14, is redesigned to offer a creative and safe experience. Campers will participate in daily music, dance, drama and design classes and will work on performance projects throughout the week that revolve around a fun weekly theme. Camp is divided into four separate one-week sessions, and campers can sign up for as many weeks as they wish. Varsity Camps that offer advanced instruction by varsity coaches will return with squash, baseball, basketball and soccer. Campers will experience skill development, drills, game play, conditioning, fitness and motivation. Girls Empowerment Camp combines creative arts, physical challenge, community service, team-building activities and self-reflection to provide girls with an opportunity to build confidence and step outside of their comfort zones.     Join us for the combination camp of your child’s dreams! In this Rock Climbing and Ninja Warrior camp, children will spend each day climbing our tallest walls, bouldering, running through obstacle courses, and participating in team building games! With the help of professional coaches, campers will learn new skills everyday that will help transform them into stronger, more agile, confident, and capable little humans! Ninja Warrior Aspect of Camp: For 2-3 hours per day, kids will have the opportunity to explore our ninja warrior area via instructional classes, movement workshops/stations, free play, and competitions! Campers will follow a specific curriculum based on improving balance, agility, jumping, awareness, and overall strength. They will engage in varying skill stations and regular workouts, all while building relationships with team members. Obstacle courses and ninja elements will be changed everyday in order to keep play and learning dynamic and interesting! Climbing Aspect of Camp: For 2-3 hours per day, kids will be guided throughout both of our climbing gyms; exploring our vast arrangements of walls and challenges. With the help of our climbing coaches, campers will learn all proper safety protocols, climbing and movement techniques, and how to problem solve on and off the wall! Through climbing games and drills, campers will learn the skills to be able to boulder, top-rope and even speed climb at an advanced level! Additionally, our climbing program focuses on setting and working towards accomplishing goals. With the help of coaches, kids will have fun while working towards improving and expanding their appreciation of climbing!

A coaches demonstration will be followed by a warm-up. Specific drills and exercises designed to reinforce daily teaching themes will be run as well as small-sided league games. Shore Multi Sports Camp: The multi-sports camp’s primary purpose is to create an appreciation and enjoyment of athletics, a sampling of multiple sports, team work, social skills, leadership, sportsmanship and character development.  The program is designed to provide instruction under the tutelage of staff and guest coaches in: soccer, basketball, team handball, touch football, rink soccer, yoga, tennis baseball, ultimate frisbee, rink hockey, volleyball, track & field, fitness & speed training, capture the flag, and other sports as well as gross motor skill activities. Shore Basketball Camp: The basketball camp is designed to teach fundamental skills and strategies. Specific drills designed to enhance daily teaching themes will be organized as well as half court and full sided games.     Summer Friends at MPFS is set to return for the 2021 season! Summer Friends runs from June 21-August 20, 2021 and provides children ages 3-10 (preschool – entering fifth grade) with an opportunity to participate in weekly thematic units taught by experienced counselors and certified elementary teachers. Weekly themes may include Nature Week, Magic Week, Sports Week, and Drama Week. Children enjoy the freedom of summer in a welcoming, safe, and relaxed environment. Enriching on-site programs are complemented by field trips* to museums, zoos, and other local venues. Twice weekly, campers participate in instructional and recreational swimming at Knowlton Swim Club with certified water safety instructors. The campers at Summer Friends are free to explore, play, and express themselves in the safe and nurturing environment found year-round at Media-Providence Friends School. COVID-19 precautions will be in place and group size will be limited. Smaller groups allow for meaningful interaction with teachers as well as other children of similar ages and all activities are tailored for campers’ developmental and physical levels. The children at Summer Friends participate in a wide variety of experiences that help them shape their vision of the people and the world around them. COVID-19 PRECAUTIONS This summer, counselors, staff, and campers will observe COVID-19 precautions to assure that everyone has a safe and fun summer. These safety measures will include reduced class sizes, wearing face masks, daily temperature checks, frequent hand washing and sanitizing of surfaces, and social distancing while indoors. *Please note: field trips and all off-site activities will be assessed on a case-by-case basis given current COVID-19 restrictions. Registrations received after May 15 will include a $75 late fee. Siblings receive a 10% discount on camp registrations!
