I have fallen head first in love with home organizing. Yes, yes I know. I’m a giant “Quarantine Cliche”. And I’ll acknowledge that this need for organization is very likely the result of spending the better part of a year feeling like I can’t control anything so now I’m channeling that into my home. But let’s look past all that because oooooh, I can’t get enough of it.
It started with my basement back in the spring. We had stacks of paper products and cleaning supplies piled up next to old moving boxes and bags of holiday decorations. It was a dumping ground and it was getting hard to see the floor. So, I ordered a few shelving units and storage bins from Lowe’s. Simple enough solution…yet, there was a twinkle in my eye as I stacked up our rolls of toilet paper and stored away the lingering Christmas lights and Halloween hoopla. I thought: What’s next? Since then I’ve conquered linen closets, the office closet, the laundry room, under the kitchen sink, our bathroom cabinets, utensil drawers, the coffee nook, an art cart and the dog’s various paraphernalia. I’m on The Container Store website more often than CNN (believe me, that’s a good thing) and I follow home organizer accounts on Instagram like they’re celebrities (I’m not the only one!). Bins, baskets and labels have truly sparked my joy.
Thankfully, my husband seems content to leave me spinning in my home edit circles as long as I leave him out of it. What he doesn’t know is our master bedroom closet is next…and so is his decades old t-shirt pile. Unless of course, he wants me to put them in a bin with a helpful label?
