September has always felt more like the start of a new year than January 1st. As summer ends, I feel motivated and optimistic about what’s ahead. I feel that excitement of a fresh start, wanting to run out and buy new office supplies.
Every fall, I fully embrace that back-to-school vibe by challenging myself to learn something new. This year, I’ve got my sights set on mastering Bridge. Yeah, you heard me right. It’s a skill I can hone into my golden years, keeping my mind sharp. If these high achievers engage in this pursuit, I am convinced I should, too.
But wait, there’s more! My autumn ambition doesn’t stop there. I’ve also committed to dedicate several hours each day to the craft of writing memoir in the hopes of finally writing that book that’s been on the back burner, simmering.
Fall is the perfect time to enroll in a class, dive headfirst into a new hobby, or commit to a goal lingering in your mind. Trust me, there are countless places around our area and online that offer many different classes to satisfy any learning endeavor.
As the days grow shorter and the nights get longer, dedicating some quality time to learning something new can provide the mental stimulation we all crave. I mean, seriously, how much mind-numbing television can we possibly stream? With the winter holidays still months away, fall offers a perfect opportunity to focus on personal growth and step outside our cozy comfort zones.
So, my fellow lifelong learners, as the aroma of pumpkin spice lattes fills the air, I am seizing the spirit of September’s fresh start. How about you?
Happy Fall Y’all!
