First Friday Jazz ft Dave Mattock & Funktap

With FOUR full length jazz albums under his own name, keyboardist Dave Mattock is joined by Jason Hermann (guitar) and Josh Orlando (drums.) Jason and Josh provide the perfect compliment to Dave’s original writing. The music of Funktap, heard on their 2020 album, is influenced by earlier jazz but has a vibe of it’s own. The music is sophisticated yet grooving; complicated but lyrical. It takes the idea of the organ trio, a tradition in jazz passed down by masters Jimmy Smith, Don Patterson, and Dr. Lonnie Smith, and modernizes it for the current generation of jazz fans.
