Art Show - Lisa Learner's Local Landscapes at Ludington Library

Bryn Mawr, PA, November 5th through December 5th: Realistic landscape painter Lisa Learner of Wynnewood and Havertown will be exhibiting her oil paintings of scenes around Philadelphia and the Main Line at Ludington Library in the center of Bryn Mawr from November 5th until December 5th. Her paintings depict local people (and the occaional dog) at hiking trails, train stations, parks, and homes in the area.

Most of these oil paintings are painted on heavy watercolor paper that has been prepared for the oil-based paint. Lisa’s husband, who is a woodworker, picture framer, and a gilder, ‘floats’ these paintings on linen-covered boards. He then surrounds them with linen-covered ‘sink mats’ and designs and hand-carves a unique wooden frame for each one – with either a natural wood finish or water-gilded with 12, 22 or 24 karat gold leaf.

Lisa received her BFA from Tyler School of Art and her MFA from the University of Pennsylvania. In addition to creating paintings, she has worked at the Philadelphia Museum of Art. Lisa has also been teaching at colleges, universities, and art centers in the Philadelphia area for many years, including Temple, Cabrini, University of the Arts, U of P, DCCC, CCP, and  Main Line Art Center.
