I am a local photographer and blogger from Phoenixville, PA. Born and raised in Phoenixville, I love the town and recently ran a project, Makers of Phoenixville. As Phoenixville has become increasingly known for bars and restaurants, it is difficult to find information on healthy alternatives and activities, so I wanted to share with you the Top 5 Healthy Activities in Phoenixville. Enjoy!
1) GO KAYAKING, HIKING, OR BIKING AT LOCK 60
Rent a Kayak from Port Providence Paddle and enjoy a morning floating down the Schuylkill River and canal. Soak in the beautiful scenery as you traverse the loop or make your own path. If Kayaking doesn’t appeal, explore one of the many hiking and biking trails at Lock 60. From the five-mile water-side loop to birding and wildflower trails, there is certainly an option to suit your fancy.
2) COOL OFF AND GRAB A KOMBUCHA ON TAP FROM STEEL CITY
After a morning of expeditions, cool down at Steel City of Coffeehouse and grab a kombucha on tap or iced coffee. Chill indoors for a bit, and catch one of their live music events.
3) BROWSE THE PHOENIXVILLE FARMERS’ MARKET
Pick up some fresh fruit and veggies at the Phoenixville Farmers Market. Just remember to factor in the hours and dates it is open into your planning.
4) SWING BY GANGSTER VEGAN ORGANICS FOR A NUTRITIOUS LUNCH AND DESSERT
Indulge in some truly delectable vegan delights from smoothies, juices, and wellness shots to bowls and “burgers.” After you enjoy lunch, imbibe in a slice of guilt-free cheesecake or pie. Tip: Keep in mind there is not much seating, so pick up your lunch and take a seat near the world map mural and fountain on Bank Street.
5) CHECK OUT THE FITNESS CLUBS IN TOWN
If running is your thing, check out All Kinds of Fast! They host biweekly running groups as well as have a retail location with running apparel and shoes. If you prefer biking, stop by the Twisted Cog and browse their selection of bikes and gear.
Phoenixville is the perfect place to spend a celebratory healthy afternoon. Bring your fitness buddy, and enjoy the town!
