Historian Ricardo Herrera will talk about some of the lesser-known facts of the Continental Army’s storied encampment at Valley Forge.
What really happened when the Continental Army settled in at Valley Forge in 1777 for its long winter encampment? Exactly how did the army survive the weather, disease, and lack of provisions? And what part did Paoli resident and celebrated General Anthony Wayne play during that storied time?
Author and historian Ricardo Herrera will talk about this and more at 7 p.m. Tuesday, May 30, at Historic Waynesborough in Paoli.
Herrera, a visiting professor at the U.S. Army War College in Carlisle, is the award-winning author of Feeding Washington’s Army: Surviving the Valley Forge Winter of 1778. He has written and spoken extensively about the American Revolution.
