ONE ALTERNATIVE is a unique music ensemble that has persevered through many mutations of the musical landscape since 1983. The secret of this long lifespan is the group’s ongoing dedication to make the best instrumental music possible while not being deterred by ever changing trends. The sound of ONE ALTERNATIVE can be best described as an “acoustic fusion”; blending the compositional form of classical music with the spontaneity of jazz, rock and folk styles.The resulting mixture is a vibrant and joyful listening experience.

ONE ALTERNATIVE has shared the stage with such diverse artists as Oregon, Renaissance, Spyro Gyra, Bill Bruford, Billy Cobham, Larry Coryell and the Dixie Dregs among others. A total of eight albums have been released with the most recent in 2017 titled Twilight.

Through the years ONE ALTERNATIVE has seen various personnel and instrument changes. Bass guitar and drums were permanently added in the early 2000’s. In 2018 the thought came to mind that the violin would work well replacing the second guitar. The addition of violinist Dana Allaband to the lineup helped transform the essence of ONE ALTERNATIVE into something completely new. The group’s music has been reworked for the quintet and the result is an even more realized sound!

Parking Info

The closest public parking for the Knauer Performing Arts Center is the Chestnut Street Garage at 14 East Chestnut Street.
Two-hour parking is available in the short term parking area on the ground floor. Pay at the lower level kiosk and display your ticket on your car’s dashboard.

Upper Level Garage hours and rates are posted: you receive a parking stub when you enter, and pay when you leave. Many business and restaurants validate your garage ticket with purchase, so take it with you.

Metered parking is available on-street and in several parking lots. Meters take quarters and/or credit cards, 10-minutes for each quarter up to three-hours (or longer at the parking lot at Chestnut & Church Streets). Metered parking is enforced Monday through Friday and beginning at 5pm on Saturday. Once the time on the meter has expired, parked cars are subject to a parking ticket. Parking on Sunday is free.
Parking in the Justice Center Parking Garage is free after 5pm Friday through Sunday.
There is free street parking on several area streets; please read all signs.
Handicapped parking is available in the lot adjacent to the building.
