Who: We, the Historic Mt. Zion AME Church & Devon Hill Group, are seeking the community’s help in identifying historical stories and artifacts related to African American history in Tredyffrin Township from the 1700s to the present. We are especially interested in content related to the history of Mt. Zion AME Church, the Underground Railroad (in Tredyffrin Township), the Berwyn School Fight (1932-1934) and African American heritage and life in the Devon Hill community.
Why: This content will be used to create a community film project through Scribe Video Center’s Precious Places Community History Project. Precious Places is a community oral history project inviting members of the Philadelphia region’s many neighborhoods to document the buildings, public spaces, parks, landmarks and other sites that hold the memories of our communities and define where we live.
