Join Greg Prichard on Thursday, September 15th at the Willows Mansion as he discusses the development of planned garden communities along the Main Line.
The Main Line became famous for its grand estates like The Willows and the families who built them. Yet the vast majority of Main Line settlers made homes in the well-planned, artfully designed garden communities of tree-lined streets and cutting-edge residential architecture. From the pioneering railroad-oriented developments of the late 19th century including Bryn Mawr, North Wayne and South Wayne to single-concept neighborhoods like Wynnewood’s English Village, the Main Line is home to an extraordinary collection of neighborhoods that are notable for their creative planning, use of notable local architects, and landscape design. A century or more later, these extraordinary places endure and continue to make the Main Line a great place to live.
A wine and cheese reception will start at 5:00pm. There will be an opportunity to tour the first floor of the Willows Mansion during this time.
Greg’s presentation will begin at 6:00pm.
