Next to Normal is a contemporary Broadway musical which explores how one suburban household copes with crisis
With thought-provoking lyrics and an electrifying score of more than 30 original songs, Next to Normal shows how far two parents will go to keep themselves sane and their family’s world intact. The production takes audiences into the minds and hearts of each character, presenting their family’s story with love, sympathy and heart. It features an outstanding cast of local talent that you do not want to miss. The musical opened on Broadway in April 2009. It was nominated for eleven Tony Awards that year and won three including Best Original Score. It also won the 2010 Pulitzer Prize for Drama, becoming the eighth musical in history to receive this honor.
Please note: due to subject matter (the story centers on a mother who struggles with mental illness and its effects on her and her family), this production is not recommended for children.
