Join The Last Big Band, with Larry McKenna and Erich Cawalla, as they perform a variety of holiday classics and some of Larry and Erich’s original arrangements. It is the PERFECT way to get into the holiday spirit!
In 2002, trombonist Jim Zoller and trumpeter Roger Morgan assembled 17 of Eastern PA’s top musicians to form this first-rate jazz orchestra. Featuring many former West Chester University Criterions, The Last Big Band performs all types of music at venues throughout Pennsylvania. They are excited to bring their holiday show to Uptown! with special guest and legendary Philadelphia saxophonist Larry McKenna with The Last Big Band’s Erich Cawalla on lead vocals and saxophone.
In a recent Hometown Heroes Spotlight on Larry, WRTI radio station stated – “Hailed as one of the world’s finest jazz saxophone players, Larry McKenna is firmly rooted in his Philadelphia birthplace where he has spent over six decades showcasing a gorgeous tenor saxophone sound. Aside from being a frequent guest on recordings by other top jazz players, Larry has released three records under his name to critical acclaim.”
Reading, PA native Erich Cawalla and his quartet had the honor of performing earlier this year as the first in-person show to be held at Uptown! since the pandemic. Erich is set to release his first-full length solo album at his hometown Berks Jazz Festival on March 30th featuring a 26-piece band and orchestra performing songs in The Great American Songbook as well as one original composition.
