Please join the Radnor League of Women Voters in a socially distanced dinnertime picnic August 26 at the Willows to celebrate the centennial anniversary of the passage of the 19th amendment.
A century ago, white was the color worn by American suffragists who rallied to achieve women’s right to vote. Victory was achieved when the 19th amendment was signed on August 26, 1920. Now, exactly 100 years later, the Radnor League of Women Voters will be celebrating on the lawn of the Willows, wearing white once again, and inviting the community to join in celebrating this historic event.
“Night In White” takes place from 6 to 7:30 pm at the Willows Park, 400 Darby Paoli Road in Villanova. Participants are asked to wear masks and dress in white in honor of the original suffrage activists. Everyone should bring their own dinner to set up where they wish, on the lawn or on the Park’s picnic tables. A Handel’s ice cream will be on hand, with all donations welcome to help defray its cost. The Night in White will conclude with a march of those in white down the driveway with participants carrying non-partisan signs of issues addressed in our nation from 1920-2020.
This event is free but registration is required so that we can notify you in the event of rescheduling or cancellation. Register at the events page of the Radnor League’s website:
