An interactive and swanky virtual gallery event! Don your most fabulous attire, pour yourself a glass of champagne and get ready to show your face in this virtual party!

Using virtual reality software to show viewers around the gallery space, artist Jessica Libor will guide attendees through the virtual exhibition of 10 new pastel drawings. Each a portrait of a different woman, these drawings are inspired by the idea of the selfie as a self-portrait. The enchanted portal of today is technology, and through technology we can curate the way that we are seen in the same way that artists in other centuries flattered their subjects or imagined a different surrounding for them.

Jessica was particularly inspired to do this series because of the impact on millions of quarantined individuals. Many are spending time alone. With nowhere to go socially, how do we as individuals still express our creative personalities through our styling? Does it still matter to get dressed up if no one will see you? How does creating a “selfie” with your cellphone mimic the process of creating a drawing or painting? Many things are the same: choosing the elements, composition, lighting, colors and subject matter. In many ways, the selfie and the self-portrait are the same thing: the artist’s version of themselves that they want to reveal to the world. Through the selfie, they can be perceived as who they aspire to be.

Jessica will being by greeting guests and then will show them around the gallery to each piece, explaining her ideas on the subject, the muse that inspired the drawing, and materials.

All registered attendees will also get a hand-signed postcard of the show image sent to them and a discount on available pieces.

The event will be held on Zoom and registration is required. 10% of the ticket price will be donated to Project CURE, a nonprofit organization dedicated to getting medical supplies to hospitals that desperately need them. Project CURE directly helps hospitals impacted by the COVID-19 crisis.
