The Bryn Mawr Presbyterian Church presents a Lenten Choir and Orchestra Concert with its Sanctuary Choir, Bryn Mawr Chamber Singers, soloists, and The Chamber Orchestra of Philadelphia on Sunday, March 8 at 4:00 p.m. in the Sanctuary.
This program includes works by French composers Francis Poulenc, Arthur Honegger, Lili Boulanger, Gabriel Fauré and Maurice Duruflé’s Messe Cum Jubilo, which will be presented for the first time with an orchestra in Philadelphia. A special highlight will be yet another Philadelphia premiere, The Passion of St. John by Patrick Dunnevant, a stunning work for bass soloist and piano. Concert attendees are invited to come early for a pre-concert talk led by Carl Schmidt, a Poulenc expert.
Fifty percent of the free-will offering will support 12Plus,,an organization whose mission is to increase educational equity by building school cultures that inspire academic achievement and empower students to succeed in education beyond 12th grade.
