CANCELLED - 'People Power' and its Discontents

Presented by Main Line School Night at Creutzburg Center

Some now worry that ordinary people wield too much power in populist movements that are illiberal and intolerant. Should we worry that democracies may die if they become too democratic?

James Miller is Professor of Politics and Liberal Studies at the New School for Social Research in New York City. Among his books are Examined Lives: From Socrates to Nietzsche (2011) and The Passion of Michel Foucault (1993). (1984). He is the editor of an English edition of Diogenes Laertius’s Lives of the Eminent Philosophers (2018), and the author, most recently, of Can Democracy Work?
