Grammy-nominated singer-songwriter Seth Glier and friends

Presented by Trinity Presbyterian Church at Trinity Presbyterian Church

The Spotlight Concert Series at Trinity Presbyterian Church (Berwyn, PA) is thrilled to announce the final concert of the 2019 season, featuring Grammy-nominated Award Winning singer-songwriter Seth Glier on Saturday, October 5th at 7:00PM.

A lot of contemporary pop musicians rely on overly clever lyrics and pulsating dance beats to get their point across, but that’s not the case with Western Massachusetts based singer-songwriter Seth Glier. Glier (pronounced “Gleer”), who received a Grammy nomination for his 2011 release “The Next Right Thing,” is more interested in connecting with his audience rather than embracing the newest trend. “I’m a songwriter and I believe that the way in which we tell a story ultimately has the power to change the story. I think that when someone lets a song into their heart it becomes a spirit. To me, songs are mediators between the spiritual and sensual world and I think that this world is in desperate need of them.” Glier tells us.

A troubadour in every sense of the word, Seth plays over 250+ shows a year. He has co-written tunes with Livingston Taylor, Ellis Paul and Marshall Altman. He has shared the stage with artists as diverse as James Taylor, John Mayer, Mark Knopfler, Ani DiFranco, Marc Cohn, Ryan Adams, Martin Sexton, Toad The Wet Sprocket, Edwin McCain, and Ronnie Spector. He has appeared as a main-stage artist at the Falcon Ridge Folk Festival (NY) and the Kerrville Folk Festival (TX). In addition to his Grammy nomination, Seth took home Best Love Song for his track “Naia” at the 10th Annual Independent Music Awards. In 2012, “Next Right Thing” won Best Social Action Song at the Independent Music Awards.

Seth recorded his latest album, Birds (Glier’s fifth album), in an airy loft in western Massachusetts outfitted with a grand piano and floor-to-ceiling windows. The album began taking shape after Glier lost his brother, Jamie, who died in October 2015, and inspired a TED Talk performance that Glier gave in 2016. The songs range from personal to political, and are bound together by the awareness that our world is a fragile place. Birds has also garnered additional awards from Independent Music Awards for best singer-songwriter album, best song (“Like I Do”) and best production.

Joining Seth Glier on stage are his friends Kelly Halloran on Fiddle and Rachel Coats on Bass.

Kelly Halloran, an international touring fiddle player, has opened for/toured in support of esteemed artists such as Judy Collins, Howard Jones, Blues Traveler, Indigo Girls, John Barrowman, Elizabeth McGovern, Ben Harper, and Shawn Colvin. Live performance credits include Jackson Browne, Dina Fanai & Bob Kinkel (Trans Siberian Orchestra), Rachael Sage, and Mary Fahl of October Project.

Rachel Coats grew up in a musical family. She earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Music Education from Bowling Green State University and.performs on bass, guitar, vocals and any other stringed instrument needed for a show. Rachel and her partner Lucciana Costa formed the music group “King Margo,” and they released their debut album “Barely Gettin By” in 2018.

The doors will open at 6:30 PM and the concert will begin at 7 PM. The concert is free, but a free-will offering is recommended. All are welcome!
