GiveBack Workshop: Sole Hope

GiveBack Workshop: Sole Hope

Presented by National Liberty Museum at National Liberty Museum

GiveBack Workshops at NLM are a unique way of volunteering and the perfect spark to activate your family’s sense of empathy, respect, and responsibility, the character traits that make someone a true hero of liberty. A different GiveBack Workshop is held once each month on a Saturday morning. You and your children will work together to complete a “make-and-donate” activity specifically designed by the partner organization for that month.

For this workshop, we will partner with Sole Hope, an organization dedicated to creating shoes for those suffering from jigger infestations in the east African nation of Uganda. Jiggers are a parasite that usually affects the feet and can be fatal. Sole Hope will be providing us with a Shoe Party Kit to create shoes from old denim. Families will follow the patterns and instructions presented in the kit and their creations will be shipped to tailors where they will be completed.  You are encouraged to bring old denim with you, but some will be provided at the event, as well. Coloring pages will available for younger children.
