GiveBack Workshop: Capes for Kids

GiveBack Workshop: Capes for Kids

Presented by National Liberty Museum at National Liberty Museum

GiveBack Workshops at NLM are a unique way of volunteering and the perfect spark to activate your family’s sense of empathy, respect, and responsibility, the character traits that make someone a true hero of liberty.  A different GiveBack Workshop is held once each month on a Saturday morning. You and your children will work together to complete a “make-and-donate” activity specifically designed by the partner organization for that month.

In this workshop, we partner with Enchanted Makeovers, an organization that nurtures women and children living in homeless shelters through various projects, programs and makeovers that help improve their outlook about their future.  Our project at NLM will be creating “hero capes” for children in these shelters to let them know they can be their own superhero. We will use an easy-to-follow design template, provided by Enchanted Makeovers, which allows families to get as creative as they like by decorating their capes with felt cut-outs. This activity is fun for all ages and gives attendees a chance to have an open dialogue about homelessness.
