Philadelphia's Magic Gardens: August Twilight in the Gardens

Philadelphia's Magic Gardens: August Twilight in the Gardens

Presented by Philadelphia's Magic Gardens at Philadelphia's Magic Gardens

This month, Noggin Hill, the undeniably danceable and fantastically listenable band, is up to their funny hats in mountain sounds and also incorporate elements of bluegrass, folk-jazz, and the American songbook. In the southern Appalachian mountains, fiddle and banjo players have been reveling in the complimentary textural relationship of the two instruments for hundreds of years. The rhythmic momentum, undeniable warmth & endless potential of this down-home duet is celebrated in its full spirit by Brendan Cooney and Nikolai Fox. Cooney (banjo, mandolin and vocals) and Fox (fiddle, guitar and vocals) established Noggin Hill in collaboration with the visceral, adept and fluent bassist, Chris Coyle in 2009.

Guests can also head over to our art tables to join local Teaching Artist Zoe Ganslaw. She’ll give guests all the tools they need to create their own unique plant-holders with painted flower pots and macramé hangers. Participants are encouraged to bring their own plants to exchange, and we’ll have a selection here as well along with some potting soil to help with those green thumbs!

Visitors also have the chance to learn more about PMG through fun, casual mini-tours of the space and can check out Outsider Inspirations: The Influence of Art Environments on Isaiah Zagar in our galleries.

Twilight in the Gardens is a BYOBBS event (Bring Your Own Booze, Blanket, and Snacks), and guests are encouraged to relax and picnic in the space.
