Part of the Louis Bluver Outdoor Movie Series.
A summer-long themed series of free film screenings in the Haas Biergarten underneath the Ben Franklin Bridge. Enjoy dinner and drinks from La Peg outside and in or food from The Shack outdoors, featuring $7 sandwiches all summer! Films are shown every Wednesday evening at 8:30 beginning on June 6th and ending on August 15th (excluding July 4th). This year, June’s theme is High School, July’s theme is ’90s Action Movies, and August’s theme is Summer Camp.
The beautiful and popular Bianca (Larisa Oleynik) is not allowed to date anyone unless her anti-social older sister Kat (Julia Styles) gets a boyfriend. In order to make this happen, deals are formed, relationships are constructed, and unexpected emotions surface. 10 Things I Hate About You takes a modern approach to Shakespeare’s The Taming of the Shrew.
“With everything going on in this crazy world, I wanted to take people back to the (mostly) carefree days of high school and summer camp. Worst days of your life? Indulge in some ‘90s action movies instead. It’s my hope that this series stirs up some serious nostalgia, whether it’s for the elusive “good old days” or for when you saw Nic Cage’s billowing locks for the first time in Con Air. There’s something incredibly special about seeing a movie for, perhaps, the hundredth time surrounded by dozens of people who love it just as much as you do. It’s as close as you’ll get to actually seeing it for the first time again.” –Catherine Haas, curator
