Hi Neighbor!

You’ll likely find this ridiculous, but I keep a record of everything funny that my husband says. He cracks me up regularly, sometimes to the point of tears. Once in a while, I’ll re-read my record of his humor and laugh again. It just never gets old although we do!

At the holidays, I thought it would be entertaining to share one of his more hilarious comments with his extended family. His brother and sister and their partners were over for dinner and I explained something funny he’d said recently while laughing through the explanation. Anticipating the punchline, they all looked at me blankly as if to ask, “Is that it?” His family’s uncomprehending looks and non-responses completely cracked me up all over again. I hadn’t realized until that moment that I am my husband’s best and possibly only audience. My tolerant (and good humored) husband just rolled his eyes and shook his head in sympathetic acknowledgement of his biggest fan’s public display of appreciation.

Even if nobody else thinks my guy is a hoot, it just doesn’t matter. After all, we’re not trying to get bookings to take this show on the road. The show would only consist of the two of us onstage, with him making jokes and me laughing. Not much there to appeal to a big crowd. Maybe if he sang or danced too but honestly he’d tell you (chuckling) that those skills are truly hilarious and definitely not for public consumption. Even I know that.

Well, on this Valentine’s Day, I want to give my hilarious honey a shout out. Thanks for keeping me entertained. I’ll continue to appreciate your quick wit and sense of humor even if nobody else does.
