Plenty of treats along the Main Line this month, from new Lisi Learch and Addison Bay boutiques to a Chick-fil-A in Wayne. Brave souls can get their trick fix at the new Lincoln Mill Haunted House in Manayunk.

• Lisi Lerch Opens Bungalow Boutique in Villanova

Local accessories designer Lisi Lerch opened a jewel box of a shop (her first!) on Conestoga Road in Villanova last month. For the past two decades, Lerch has run her namesake biz out of her Newtown Square home. When she started shopping for corporate office space, she opted for a connected storefront to offset the rent. Right now the shop exclusively stocks her trademark earrings, bags and hats, plus selections from her new LibbyKat footwear and apparel line. Named for Lerch’s two daughters Libby and Katherine, LibbyKat is geared toward teens and young adults on tighter budgets, with items priced under $100. While her roots are local, Lerch’s following is nationwide. Her pieces have been featured in Oprah magazine, Martha Stewart Weddings and US Weekly among others. They’re also a favorite among the Bravo Housewives.

Eventually Lerch plans to host trunk shows featuring pieces by local artists and creatives.

Lisi Lerch Bungalow Boutique is located at 615 Conestoga Road in Villanova. Hours are Tuesday through Saturday, 11:00 AM to 5:00 PM.

• Teen Car Jacked at Devon Target

Wayne and Devon residents are reeling over the recent carjacking of a 17-year-old male at the Devon Target last month. On September 22 around 5:15 PM, a teen exited the store after purchasing a gallon of milk. When he got in his car, two males jumped inside and pointed a gun at his head. The suspects then ordered the teen out of the car; one drove away in the victim’s car and the other left in a Nissan Altima. Thankfully the victim was not physically injured. Police are still searching for the suspects.

According to Tredyffrin officials, the township’s last carjacking was in 2019.

• Chick-fil-A Chugs East

After nixing plans to open a drive-through-only location at the old Chili’s in Wayne, Chick-fil-A has set its sights on another spot less than a mile down the road. The popular franchise plans to open in the old Panera on Lancaster Avenue, where it will have no trouble attracting the after-school walk-to-Wayne crowd. The news should also lift the spirits of locals who have watched several popular businesses close shop in recent years, including Starbucks, Wayne Sporting Goods and the Gap.

• Addison Bay & Veronica Beard Invade Suburban Square

Addison Bay has brought its signature athleisure style to Suburban Square. Founded four years ago by Philly entrepreneur and former Division I athlete Marguerite Adzick, Addison Bay specializes in pieces that take you from the gym to lunch with the girls to Target runs and beyond (or what Adzick calls the “7am to 7pm look”). A looong line of eager customers snaked around the outside of the store on opening day last month, and Adzick was on hand to greet and chat with all of them. The Suburban Square shop is Addison Bay’s second location; it also operates a boutique in Avalon.

Suburban Square will also soon be home to a Veronica Beard boutique. Founded by sisters-in-law Veronica Swanson Beard and Veronica Miele Beard (often referred to as “the Veronicas”), the upscale brand is known for its well-tailored blazers, jeans and statement tops.

• Hey There!

Cult favorite skincare shop Heyday is coming to the ‘burbs. Aside from its new Conshohocken storefront, it plans to open locations in Ardmore and Wayne over the next two years. Founded by two Penn grads, Heyday is known for its ultra-personalized approach to skincare. Customers enter their skincare profile in a tablet, noting areas of concern and goals, and estheticians use the information to create a 50-minute customized facial. Offerings include microdermabrasion, peels, LED light therapy and hydra-infusion treatments, plus a retail section featuring cruelty-free, esthetician-approved products.

• Fright Nights

Move over Bates Motel and Eastern State Penitentiary; there’s a new haunted house in town! Featuring over 40 scare-actors, high-quality sets and props and a terrific backstory (more on that in a minute), Lincoln Mill Haunted House in Manayunk is guaranteed to scare you silly.

Here’s the (supposed) backstory: On September 2, 2021, Hurricane Ida struck Philadelphia and flooded the historic Lincoln Mill. Once the waters receded, a local developer discovered a hidden chamber filled with dead bodies. Local authorities determined that during the Great Depression, the mill’s owner tormented and experimented on his workers, whose spirits now haunt the mill at night.

For those who aren’t fans of fright nights, there’s a family-friendly tour on Saturdays from 12:00 PM – 4:00 PM without scare actors. $1 from every ticket sold benefits CHOP. And don’t miss Manayunk’s Trick-Or-Treat-Trolley, which runs throughout the month of October and makes multiple stops along Main Street, including Lincoln Mill.

Lincoln Mill Haunted House is open Thursdays – Saturdays, 6:45 PM to 11:45 PM, through November 5.
