Hi Neighbor!

This week was my 25th wedding anniversary. A quarter of a century! 300 months. 9131.25 days. It’s been a bit. What makes a marriage last? For me it’s all the little things. Trite, but it’s true.

One little (not so little it turns out) thing my husband does is say “Thank you.” I have cooked countless meals for our family for 25 years and not a night will go by that I don’t hear “thanks for making dinner.” It may seem small but to me it says… I don’t take you for granted. I appreciate you. I value and respect you.

Researchers at the University of Georgia interviewed close to 500 couples about their financial well-being, communication style and how often they express gratitude to each other. They found that expression of gratitude was the most consistent predictor of marital quality.

I’m not surprised.

There’s so much that goes into making a relationship work but maybe the key to a happy marriage starts simply with two little words.

Thank you.

Enjoy!
