Hi Neighbor!

Anyone else have issues with mindless nighttime scrolling? Sitting on my couch watching total strangers dancing in their spotless kitchens, sharing their skincare routines or describing the many ways they’re #blessed and #grateful is not good for my mental health.

But one scroll I refuse to give up is the Sunday night cookie drop! After dinner I open the Crumbl Cookies app and start refreshing, waiting for the week’s new flavors to appear. My oldest daughter prefers to check the company’s TikTok account, and we often race to see who views them first. (Is this a sign we need to get out more? Probably.) When my daughter first told me about the brand and begged me to drive her to Jenkintown to pick up a dozen, I rolled my eyes and told her to ask dad. Six months later, a location opened in Wynnewood, and she requested them for her birthday. When I arrived to pick them up, the scene was (barely) controlled chaos. Impatient cookie monsters of all ages—from seniors to tweens—elbowed each other to the front counter. Those who received their cookies were treated to death stares as they exited.

It’s pretty genius, actually. The founders—two enterprising Utah cousins—have turned cookie consumption into an experience, from the weekly flavor drop to the in-store open kitchen to the pretty pink packaging to the social media frenzy surrounding the brand. Our family spent an hour(!) sampling each cookie, debating its merits and ranking (and reranking) them all. It was actually really, really fun.

The cookies are colossal (the company even sells a branded cookie cutter to slice them into fourths), and the flavors are unexpected and intriguing…think Chocolate Strawberry Cheesecake, Kentucky Butter Cake, Coconut Pretzel, M&M Beach Ball and Cereal Milk topped with Fruity Pebbles. You can even get them delivered, which leaves plennnnnty of time for mindless scrolling.
