Hi Neighbor!

Have you ever listened to a song and remembered exactly how life used to be when you first heard it?  Certain songs stop me dead in my tracks and transport me back to a different place and time. For me, music, emotions, and memories are 100% connected.

Motown or “Oldies” remind me of “tween” dance parties on my childhood front steps.  Bruce Springsteen will ALWAYS make me think of my brother, because The Boss was blaring from my brothers’ room when we were growing up (my favorite Bruce song).  ANY song by The Go-Go’s, but especially We Got The Beat, sends me back to High School, and always makes me want to dance!  Some songs from the 80’s to the early 90’s make me sad because of heartbreaks and bad decisions, but songs from 1994 and forward remind me of meeting, dating, and marrying my husband ❤️!

You Are My Sunshine, Silent Night, Here Comes the Sun, High Hopes, and Mambo #5 are a few of my favorite songs that defined my early mom years.  Every time I hear the song Rhinestone Cowboy, I know that’s my dad saying Hello from Heaven.  During Lock Down, my kids’ Spotify playlists ruled our house. Their playlists included a lot of country music which was a welcome change for me and now when I hear songs like Tequila, I remember that special family time we had together!  Last but certainly not least, Christmas music!  I start listening to it on November 1st because, quite simply, it makes me feel light, cheery and magical…like anything and everything is possible.

What does the music of your life sound like?  I’d love to hear what song(s) transport you back in time and why.  Share your favorites in the comments section!

Musically Yours,
Chris
