Hi Neighbor!

Does anyone have a copy of the official Parent Manual?  You know the one I’m talking about.  It provides detailed instructions on parenting.  I’ve been looking for it for the past 24 years, and right now I would pay top dollar for a copy.

I am specifically interested in the chapter “Teaching Kids to Drive.”  It’s the one that not only gives the instructions on how to teach your child to drive (without killing each other), but more importantly how to accept that they can legally drive, thus putting you out of the mom-taxi business.  Ideally, the section would also include how to deal with the mom feelings that occur after this man-child starts driving the car and leaves you in the dust with tire marks all over your heart…especially if it’s your last man-child.

No more school or activity drop offs, no more late-night pickups, no more mom and son time in the car.  This is where I need help — accepting that my baby driving is a good thing, and that being relieved of one of my most important Mom duties is a GREAT thing.

I know I need to embrace my new found free time, but there is still a big part of me that is wondering whatever will I do now?  Could this be why this Junior driver of mine begged me 3 LONG months ago to get a puppy – so I would have a new “child” to take care of in all of my free time? On second thought maybe the chapter I really need is How to Take Care of a Puppy!
