Hi Neighbor!

Last weekend my husband and I went to my parents’ house for Mother’s Day.  My oldest daughter met us there as well.  It was heaven!  All five of us are fully vaccinated now and we were able to hug, chat and eat together … just like families are meant to do. Finally some sense of normalcy.

At one point, we all went outside for a little walk and we ran into my mom’s next door neighbor and good friend (someone I happen to adore and haven’t seen in quite some time).  She was coming back from her garage, and of course none of us had masks on at the time.  I immediately greeted her and excitedly asked, “Are you fully vaccinated?”  She said, “Yup”.  I then followed with “Can I give you a hug?!”  She replied, “Sure.”  Now, let me just explain that those questions didn’t quite come out in perfect sequential order.  I do believe that her “Sure” came out AS I proceeded to accost her with my hug.  Not sure I truly gave her time to fully answer me before going in for the full grab!

My point in all of this is that it is so nice to have some normalcy around us, but there are still some tripping points for sure.  The new etiquette and proper procedures on interaction are still new to everyone… and many times, super complicated!  Has anyone seen the insane CDC guideline matrices out there? Comical!

So, if you are like me, and a little overzealous in the hugging department… forget the matrix, just try to remember to wait for the person to actually answer you fully before you knock them over with love.

Enjoying the Hugs,
Laura
