Hi Neighbor!

My daughter is a senior in college in Massachusetts.  She lives with five other girls in a very old home (cue image of the Munster’s House sans the black velvet curtains).  They have been living there for 2 years, and in those two years have really fixed it up to be comfy and homey, girl style. (Six boys lived in it prior to them – don’t even ask what it looked like to begin with!)

For the past 6 months or so, they had been noticing quite a bit of noise in the walls of the house.  Not faint noises mind you – but pretty significant loud noises.  Then about a month ago they had a squirrel that they found in their kitchen.  Thinking the squirrel just scooted in through an open door, they weren’t too concerned.  A little excitement in their day is all.  But then as the noises became more frequent they started to think that one might have to do with the other.  Ya think? 🙂

Fast forward to last week and I get a text from my daughter at 6 a.m.  It’s a video of a red squirrel RICOCHETING off of every wall in their living room – and I mean ricocheting!  That sucker was FAST!  Picture a flying squirrel on speed.  The poor thing was scared to death!  Although I do believe there were at least 3 others in that room scared just as much – at least from what I could tell by the sound of the screams.  Then my daughter enters the picture… calmly yielding a broom to gently scoot the poor soul out of the house.  That was quite the sight… my daughter standing still, calmly waiting for the ricocheting squirrel to stop long enough for her to assist it in leaving the house without incident.  (Ummm… good luck with that child-o-mine.)  A few minutes later, the squirrel disappeared into my daughter’s bedroom, never to be found again.  (which is pretty funny seeing she was the one with the broom).

Remember those days?  Back in college, living with some friends, and a rogue squirrel enters your home.  Disappears into a bedroom, never to be found again… and it just isn’t all that stressful?   Just another day.  Even when days pass and you start finding the occasional nut deposited on your couch.  It just isn’t that big of a deal.  Kinda cute. Ahhh to be young again!

Enjoy!
