Hi Neighbor!

My husband travels quite a bit for work. Internationally and nationally. He’s very used to it at this point. I don’t travel that often, so when I do, I have lists for my lists. It’s a little obsessive compulsive I admit – but catching planes, packing, making sure the itinerary is all set and correct… it can be very stressful! When Scott travels, he doesn’t sweat anything. He throws stuff in a suitcase the night before, makes sure he has his noise cancelling headphones (most important item!), computer, and phone… and off he goes. No muss no fuss. Now, I’m sure you are all thinking, “That’s great! No need to stress about traveling. He’s got a nice system. He’s comfortable with travel, he’s good to go.” Well, sometimes… just sometimes mind you… “comfortable” can be a little “TOO” comfortable.

The other day Scott traveled to Cincinnati. He’s very good about keeping me posted on his travels – sends me a text when they board, and when they land. So, on this trip he texted me that his flight from Cincinnati was scheduled to leave on time and that he was at the airport super early. He was just going to do some work while he waited. So off he went, deep into computer geek mode. After a while, he noticed that they were boarding. Onto the plane Scott went. (Now, remember he’s flying from Cincinnati to Philadelphia). About 3 HOURS into his flight (yup… I said THREE hours!!), Scott decides to take his noise cancelling headphones off and see why he might still be in the AIR. He looks around — all looks fine to him, no one seems concerned – maybe he’s just lost track of time??? Hmmmmm.

Well that’s just about when the captain comes on the loud speaker and says – “Welcome to sunny Phoenix, Arizona!! It’s a beautiful 86 degrees with a slight wind coming in from the west.” This man… MY man.. in 2012, during the tightest security air travel has ever seen… my man ends up on the WRONG plane, going in the opposite direction of his destination. I can hear all of you now – “What?? That can’t happen! How did the flight attendants not realize he was boarding the wrong plane? How did they not notice that he handed them a ticket to PHILADELPHIA, NOT PHOENIX? How did he end up with an actual OPEN SEAT on the WRONG plane? How could this fairly intelligent man be so oblivious 3 hours into a supposed “1 hour” flight?” All very good questions. 🙂

Needless to say, the airline was beside themselves when the flight landed and Scott told them what had happened. They looked at each other in disbelief and said, “This should never even be possible!”
Ummm… my husband’s involved. Oh, it’s possible.

Enjoy!
