Hi Neighbor!

I bought a bike! This was no easy feat; in case you haven’t heard, there’s a major bike shortage in the United States right now. Most local shops are sold out of everything but professional racing bikes (um, no thanks), and bikes that retailed for a few hundred dollars on Amazon in March are now selling for thousands. I knew I had hit rock bottom when I put my name on a waitlist for a super cute bike—with a price tag to match—from a trendy shop in Brooklyn, along with two thousand of my closest friends. Just when I thought all hope was lost, a friend told me about her boyfriend’s new bike shop in Delaware. I gave him a call, and he found one for me in two days!

There’s something so freeing and childlike about riding a bike around town, and I love the sound of leaves crunching under my tires. Plus, everyone seems happier on a bike. (Seriously, have you ever seen someone scowl while riding a bike? I didn’t think so.)

So—where to ride? Here’s some inspo for my fellow riders:
• A list of Main Line bike trails, plus a few that are road-trip worthy!
• Join a local bike club
• Family friendly trails along the Main Line (and beyond)
• Bike buying during a pandemic
• Helmet hair, DO care!

PS This is a great option for a child who’s not quite ready for the big leagues.

Wheels up!
