Hi Neighbor!

The arrival of a new year always makes me feel a bit wobbly. I’m still exhausted from trying—and failing, of course—to stage a picture-perfect holiday season for three young kids and now I have to commit to a set of goals and resolutions that I’ll probably never keep but will somehow turn me into a better version of myself?!?  Yikes!

Instead, I wrote a list of easy, satisfying and (mostly) free things to try in 2020.

Do one, do them all—I’ll never tell (or judge)!  And if all else fails, just skip to number 20.

  1. Donate an item of clothing.
  2. Clean out your car. (Boring but cathartic.)
  3. Go to a museum.
  4. See an OSCAR-nominated movie. Nominations are announced this Monday! Fingers crossed for this one.
  5. Spend a lazy afternoon at a local winery.
  6. Send someone a card.
  7. Bake something.
  8. Finally finish that book on your nightstand. Need a book rec? Try this or this.
  9. Get moving—take a walk, bike ride, run or try a yoga class.
  10. Plan a day trip.
  11. Learn something new. Here’s a good place to start.
  12. Take a digital detox. Limit your social media time or unfollow people who make you feel icky.
  13. Build a sandcastle or snowman. You’re never too old!
  14. Grow something edible.
  15. Walk somewhere you normally drive to.
  16. Put your phone away.
  17. Volunteer. Here’s a list to get started.
  18. Schedule one appointment you’ve been putting off.
  19. Write down three things you’re grateful for.
  20. Eat ice cream for dinner.

Cheers to a new year!
