Hello Neighbor!

Holiday traditions.  Whether it be food, activities or decorations… we all have something that our family and friends love to do each and every year at the holidays.  Of course many traditions have been carried on from generation to generation, and those traditions are wonderful for sure.  But can you really beat a tradition that you and your family kick-start all on your own?!

Well, my family and I decided to start our own tradition about 7 years ago. (never really thinking it would turn into the hit it has turned into!) We had always loved getting our Christmas trees – we would search as long as was needed to find that perfect, super full, “big as possible for our space” kind of tree.  But then it hit us… what about those poor trees that weren’t so perfect? The “Charlie Brown” Christmas trees that were just tossed aside never to be considered by anyone?  Doesn’t every tree deserve a chance to get dressed up and share the holiday spirit with a family of their own?

And so, our new tradition began!  For the last 7 years we go out and find the WORST, SADDEST looking tree that we can find – and we proudly take it home and decorate it in full Christmas glory!  We had no idea this tradition would create such a stir – but it’s a good stir – so we are happy it did!  Every time we go to the Christmas tree farm the owners get a good laugh and tell us they truly feel guilty charging us anything for it. (they always give it to us for just a few bucks ) They get a kick out of our unique holiday spirit and our family humor.  It’s always a great adventure with a lot of laughs, that’s for sure!

My girls, now 20 and 22, have loved our tradition and they both fully intend to continue it with their families.  (I just can’t wait til they explain this one to their future significant others!)

As you may just be curious 😉 … photo of this year’s tree. (just lights so far)

ENJOY and START YOUR OWN TRADITION!
