Hi Neighbor!

This weather!  It may be pouring rain as you’re reading this, but as I write right now, I’ve got the windows open: nature’s AC is on “soft-breeze” mode.  It’s gorgeous outside—not yet peak color time, but the writing is on the wall, and I like what I’m reading!

My goal is to get my girls to Jim Thorpe this fall.  We went there in August to camp and white-water raft (a story for another time!), but we just winked at the town as we drove through, vowing to be back.  The fall for us is always a push and pull between fresh-start obligations (soccer, swimming, schoolwork) and rear-view longing for lazy, summer, hangout time.  Getting the whole family together takes work, and as my kids are aggressively teenagery, I’m finding it requires more planning, and arm-twisting, sometimes begging.

My husband (before he met me and his whole life changed for the better) was an avid hiker.  He got a little sidetracked these last 15 years from one of his goals, which is to hike the highest point in every state.  You stand tallest in Pennsylvania when you’re at the top of Mount Davis, so that might be where you’d like to check out this fall’s foliage.  But there are plenty of peak-color-viewing spots in our great state: Penns Woods Fall Foliage.

What’s that?  Oh, hang on, a bird’s chatting at me just outside the window.  I think he needs something.  I better go see . . .

Enjoy!
