World Record School Supply Backpack Event

On September 8, up to 300 volunteers are expected to gather in the cafeteria of Lower Merion High School to attempt to set the World Record for the most backpacks stuffed with school supplies in one hour. The attempt will begin at 2:15 p.m. The school is located at 315 E. Montgomery Ave., Ardmore, Pa.

The backpack-stuffing event is being organized by The World Was Made For You, Inc., a 501 (c) (3) nonprofit organization founded by children’s author and Lower Merion High School alumnus Nahjee Grant. Grant’s organization has collected the school supplies and backpacks and will provide the judges and timekeepers needed to officially submit the event to Guinness World Records.
Once the backpacks are stuffed, the organization will oversee their distribution to Philadelphia elementary schools and afterschool programs including: Lewis C. Cassidy Academics Plus, Lewis Elkin Elementary, Edward Gideon Elementary, Richard R. Wright Elementary, Stephen Girard School, Samuel Gompers School and Bethel Academy of Ardmore.
