Neuro-Linguistic Programming, otherwise known as NLP is defined as “the study of human excellence” by codeveloper John Grinder, and “the study of the structure of subjective experience” by NLP author Robert Dilts. NLP is not a particular model or approach to transformation. Instead it includes many models and approaches which have been found to be useful in helping people to make the changes they seek. The strategies and distinctions used in NLP are based on the discoveries that the developers of NLP made about how the mind works. Neuroscience studies have suggested that 85-95% of thoughts, feelings and behaviors happen automatically because they arise from the unconscious. NLP suggests that the unconscious is organized in a structured way. It is that structure which dictates the nature of our personality and habits. NLP is a technology that empowers people to restructure their unconscious so that they can consciously choose how they would like to be.
